BELLSTECH UPGRADES ONLINE CLASSROOM

Bells University of Technology, Ota, in its dynamic manner, has further expanded its online e-classroom education platform as the software application employed is now integrated  with the Microsoft 365 for Education software. For optimal efficiency and effectiveness, the University has therefore organised a workshop/training termed ‘Train the Trainers” workshop. The workshop was organized for all academic staff who are the trainers that are being trained to deliver effective lectures online to all students wherever they might be.

Organised and anchored by the Open & Distance Learning Centre (ODL) in conjunction with the ICT Resource Centre, (ICTRC), the platform deployed is the MOODLE Learning Management System which is now being integrated with the MICROSOFT 365 for Education application.

While part of the training was online, groups of the lecturers were set up in line with Covid-19 prevention guidelines as they were trained in the use of the e-classroom tool for onward knowledge delivery to all students, virtually and seamlessly real-time while teaching online.

With this initiative, BELLSTECH has successfully moved the physical classroom to the online space and students now attend classes, interact with their lecturers, attendance are taken and tests and assignments are given, marked and discussed. Students also have opportunities to initiate feedbacks that make the e-classes robustly interactive.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah O. Ojediran, R.E (COREN) MNSE, gave kudos to the ODL/ICTRC partnership and to all participating academic staff for their commitment to the effort.  He said that BELLSTECH must continue to blaze a trail in such novel ideas of impacting knowledge even amidst the current Corvid-19 induced health challenges.
