About us
Welcome to the College of Food, Agricultural Science and Technology (COLFAST)
In the 2020/2021 academic session and in line with the vision of the Promoter of the University to have degree programmes in food and agriculture, the idea of a full fledge College of Food, Agricultural Science and Technology (COLFAST) was raised. It was subsequently discussed, supported and approved by the University Senate in October, 2020.
The College was to have two administrative structures: the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) with programmes in Food Technology and Nutrition and Dietetics and Department of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (AAT) with programme in Agriculture and options in Agronomy, Fisheries and Animal Sciences and Agribusiness.
Sequel to the above in August 2023, the pioneer Dean, Professor Aminat O. Adelekan, was appointed to give administrative leadership, ensure academic standards and execute regulations based on Senate decisions.
The primary aim of the College is to use the platform to contribute to the acceleration of national development in the fields of food production, preservation, storage, quality assurance and processing of agricultural products. Also, to develop manpower for the teaching of food and agricultural courses as well as provide competent basic scientists for universities, research institutes, agricultural establishments and relevant industries.
Meanwhile, the courses in the College are designed to provide in-depth study in all areas of food and agriculture. Consequently, the students are exposed to short industrial attachments (SWEP/SIWES) during the duration of their studies.
