Bells University of Technology Achieves Remarkable Milestones.

We are thrilled to announce that Bells University of Technology, located in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria, has just concluded its 15th Convocation Ceremony, which took place on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at 10:00 AM.

This grand event featured the Conferment of Honorary Degrees, Awarding of Higher Degrees/Diplomas, Admission to First Degrees, and the Presentation of Prizes.

The 15th Convocation ceremony saw a total of 191 Postgraduate, 295 Direct Entry (Top Up) Students, and 448 Undergraduate Students proudly graduate from four exceptional colleges: the College of Natural and Applied Sciences (COLNAS), the College of Management Sciences (COLMANS), the College of Environmental Sciences (COLENVS), and the College of Engineering (COLENG). Notably, 37 students have earned the prestigious First Class degree.

The Valedictory Speech was presented by Faluyi, David Ayoola, the overall best graduating student with a remarkable CGPA of 4.96, who studied Industrial Chemistry from the Department of Chemical Sciences.

Recent Milestones:

Bells University of Technology has achieved several remarkable milestones:

  1. Times Higher Education Recognition: The university is now ranked in the 51 – 60 Belt on the Times Higher Education THE – Sub-Saharan Universities Ranking. Additionally, it currently holds the 12th spot in the national ranking, marking a significant improvement from its previous status.

  2. NUC Approval for New Programs: The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full approval for the commencement of new academic programs. The College of Food, Agricultural Science and Technology (COLFAST), a new academic unit, has just launched in the 2023/2024 session. Furthermore, all Agricultural Programs in this college are now offered tuition-free, aligning with the institution’s vision to contribute to the sector.

  3. Global Recognition: BellsTech made its mark on the international stage by representing Nigeria at the Hultz Global Final in France, following its victory in the Regional Pitch Prize in Nigeria.

  4. Scopus Indexed International Conference: The College of Engineering (COLENG) hosted the first-ever Scopus Indexed International Conference from September 18 to 21, 2023. This conference witnessed participation from over 194 individuals hailing from Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Recent Awards and Prizes:

The university and its students have garnered notable awards and prizes:

  1. Students Toluwanimi Oyegunle and Olatunde David from the College of Engineering won the 6th CODET South-West competition in both single and group categories.

  2. Student Engineer Toluwanimi Oyegunle’s project, “Design and Fabrication of a Dual-based Bioprinter,” was selected to be featured in the 2023 edition of “Prototypes for Humanity,” outshining over 3,000 competing projects.

  3. A team of Engineers and Lecturers from the College of Engineering achieved greatness by winning the 4th edition of the National Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology of Nigerian Universities (CODET) Public Competition in 2023.

Recent International Conferences and Seminars:

Bells University of Technology recently hosted impactful international conferences and seminars, such as:

  1. The 2nd International Conference, themed “Innovation & Sustainability for Development in Emerging Economies,” was hosted by the College of Management Sciences (COLMANS) on May 16th-17th, 2023.

  2. The first International Conference on “Innovation, Sustainability & Technological Advancement in the African Built Environment” was hosted by the College of Environmental Sciences (COLENVS) from April 11th to April 12th, 2023.

New Vistas:
The university is welcoming exciting developments, including the election of Prof. Akunnaya Pearl Opoko as the 5th Deputy Vice-Chancellor and the 2nd female to hold this esteemed position. Moreover, eight students from COLENG have been appointed as Pioneer Fellows for the Millennium Fellowship of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and MCI Millennium Fellowship for 2023.

15th Convocation:
We are honored to announce that Hon. Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves, the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, West Indies, delivered the 15th Convocation Lecture and was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree.
