Give to Gain – BellsTech Celebrates International Women’s Day with Inspiring Talks and Performances

Bells University of Technology came alive on March 11, 2026, as management, staff, and students gathered to commemorate International Women’s Day under the empowering theme “Give to Gain.” The celebration featured a rich blend of inspirational speeches, artistic performances, and thought-provoking discussions that spotlighted the invaluable contributions of women to society.

The event opened with a prayer led by Prof. Caroline Anyakorah, setting a reflective tone for the proceedings after which Dr. Nancy Tongo formally recognized the distinguished guests in attendance.

In her welcome address, university librarian Dr. Felicia O. She celebrated the resilience and strength of women, emphasizing that homes, organizations, and society would remain incomplete without their presence. Her words resonated deeply as she expressed gratitude for the gift of womanhood.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jeremiah O. Ojediran, RE (COREN), FNSE, FNIAE, IION, delivered the opening remarks, urging women to continue making meaningful contributions to societal development while fully embracing the spirit of the celebration’s theme.

The keynote address was presented by Mrs. Bertina E. Bamgboshe, Head of Human Resources at IDL and Chairperson of CIPM Ota, who explored the theme “Give to Gain” in depth. Her insights were followed by a vibrant dance performance from the JAC Dance Group and a musical presentation by a BellsTech staff member, adding color and energy to the occasion.

A major highlight came with the presentation by the Guest Speaker Dr. Boluwatife Popoola, Medical Director of Royal Aesthetics Dental Clinic, Ota. Her talk, titled “Bright Smiles, Healthy Life,” underscored the critical importance of oral health and personal wellbeing, offering practical advice to the audience.

The celebration continued with a delightful dance presentation by students of The Bells Secondary School, and a dynamic question-and-answer session skillfully moderated by Dr.Kafilat Odeshola. The BellsTech Drama Group took center stage with a compelling performance that both entertained and addressed pressing social issues affecting women.

Dr. Adeola Ayano led an engaging panel discussion that delved deeper into topics surrounding women’s empowerment and development after which a BellsTech student also delivered a heartfelt poem celebrating the beauty, strength, and resilience of women, earning warm applause from the audience.

Prof. Violette N. Atasie delivered the vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all speakers, performers, and guests as the event drew to a close with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ngozi Arisa presenting gifts and plaques to distinguished guests.
