Bells University of Technology Makes Historic Debut in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Rankings: A Milestone in Global Recognition and Sustainable Excellence

Bells University of Technology, Ota, has achieved another remarkable milestone by earning its first-ever inclusion in the prestigious 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, a globally respected assessment that evaluates universities based on their contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This historic achievement marks Bells University’s emergence on the global sustainability stage, reaffirming its growing commitment to academic excellence, impactful research, innovation, community engagement, and sustainable development.

Out of over 309 universities in Nigeria (comprising 74 Federal, 67 State, and 168 Private Universities), only 20 universities were ranked in the 2026 THE Impact Rankings. Bells University of Technology proudly joins this elite group, demonstrating that its contributions to sustainable development are gaining international recognition.

Bells University’s Performance

The University attained a global ranking of 1501+, placing it:

i. 7th among ranked universities in Nigeria

ii. 6th among Nigerian Private Universities

iii. Among the select Nigerian institutions recognized globally for advancing sustainable development.

The University’s performance across the assessed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) includes:

• SDG 4 – Quality Education: 36.5–44.5

• SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: 2.5–29.6

• SDG 13 – Climate Action: 11.7–33.4

• SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: 27.1–47.4

These scores reflect the University’s strategic investments in quality education, environmental sustainability, institutional partnerships, and initiatives that positively impact society.

This latest accomplishment is more than just a ranking; it is a testament to the collective dedication, resilience, and vision of the University’s Governing Council, Management, Senate, staff, students, alumni, and partners. It also reflects the strategic leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jeremiah Oludele Ojediran, whose administration continues to position the University for greater global visibility and impact.
