Academic Background and an Illustrious Alumnus of Bells
Professor Ojo Sunday Fayomi is a distinguished alumnus of Bells University of Technology whose remarkable academic and professional journey reflects a steadfast commitment to excellence. He obtained a National Diploma with Distinction from The Polytechnic, BirninKebbi, a Higher National Diploma in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Bells University of Technology. He further earned both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Metallurgical Engineering from Tshwane University of Technology, South Africa, and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental and Natural Resource Management from Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Following his academic pursuits, Professor Fayomi returned to his alma mater and served with distinction in several strategic leadership roles, including Dean of the College of Engineering and Director of Academic Planning. In these capacities, he spearheaded transformative initiatives in curriculum development, quality assurance, programme accreditation, institutional planning, and global university rankings. As Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Unit and the Scopus Unit, he played a pivotal role in strengthening Bells University’s research visibility, international reputation, and academic excellence. His visionary leadership and enduring contributions remain an integral part of the University’s continued growth and success.
A Researcher of International Standing
Professor Fayomi’s scholarly output encompasses upwards of 500 peer-reviewed articles, six academic monographs, and two registered inventions. His investigations have garnered in excess of 9,500 citations, yielding an h-index of 47. These accomplishments have secured him distinguished accolades, including placement among the World’s Top 2% Scientists, the NRF South Africa C2 Established Researcher classification, and ranking among Africa’s Top 50 Researchers. He has guided 25 doctoral candidates and 42 postgraduate students to successful completion, while additionally holding an Extraordinary Professorship and Senior Research Associate with Tshwane University of Technology and University of Johannesburg respectively.
