Bells University Engineering Students Association (BUESA) Inaugurates gazebo in honor of Prof. R.I Salawu.

The Bells University Engineering Students Association (BUESA) donated a Gazebo to the College of Engineering and Bellstech, to serve as a student relaxation and meeting Centre. The Gazebo was named in honour of highly esteemed Professor Raifu Isola Salawu, FAS.

The commissioning, which held immediately after the 12th Convocation Lecture had in attendance the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran,  the Convocation Guest Lecturer, Professor Oyewale Tomori, the Registrar Mr. Lamidi Tafa, the University Librarian, Dr. Felicia Yusuf, the University Bursar, Mr. ‘Sina Adepoju, the Dean of the College, Dr. Adeoye Ojo and other lecturers and students of the College.

According to BUESA President, Ms. Adebimpe Adeyeye, the Gazebo was dedicated to Prof R. I. Salawu in recognition and appreciation of his devotion and quantum contribution to the development of Engineering in Nigeria and Bells University of Technology in particular.

In his speech, Professor Salawu appreciated the BUESA Executives for the kind gesture, while advising them to work hard and be relentless in their bid for success. He also advised lecturers to ensure that they give their best to the students, who are the future of Engineering. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the Dean for their support.

The Vice-Chancellor in his speech referred to Professor Salawu as an engineer of repute. He recalled how they met for the first time in 1994 and how the erudite scholar struck a memorable chord in him. He thanked him for his immeasurable devotion and guidance.

The Vice-Chancellor also thanked BUESA for adding value to the University and for remembering a lecturer who has added value to their lives and the institution at large.
