BELLSTECH LEADS OTHER PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES AT CODET COMPETITIONSSagacity was evidently displayed as Bells University led other universities at the 4th edition of the Engineering Competition organized by the Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology of Nigerian Universities (CODET). The award was presented at the annual COREN Assembly of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, held in Abuja.

The Bells University of Technology team was led by Engr. Dr. Abraham O. Amole, Ag. Head, Department of Electrical / Electronics Engineering. Other members are Engr. Stephen Oladipo, Engr. Olalekan E. Olabode, Engr. Kehinde A. Makinde and Engr. Peter Gbadega.

Publications submitted by participating Universities in the Competition were assessed based on rigorous criteria, such as Introduction/Research Problem, Theoretical Framework and Literature Review, Research Design and Methodology, Execution, Originality, and Quality of Publication Outlet.

BellsTech Team’s winning entry was titled “Analysis of Grid/Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation for Improved Village Energy Supply: A case of Ikose in Oyo State Nigeria”. This project is one of the strategic approaches embarked upon by Bells University of Technology to promote Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) of the United Nations.

The Team Leader, Dr. Abraham Amole, received the Award on behalf of the University and his team members, at an impressive ceremony during the 31st Engineering Assembly at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja, on 8th August, 2023.

The Dean, College of Engineering, Prof. Ojo Sunday Fayomi while commenting on this laudable feat, asserted that achieving consistent and progressive global ranking is the vision of the College and the entire University. He also noted that the good news signifies the red carpet for the international conference of the College slated for September 19-21, 2023.

In the same vein, another victory was added by a Team of BellsTech Engineering Students that secured the First Position at the Group Category of the 6th Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology of Nigerian Universities (CODET) Student Project Competition, held at Nile University, Abuja, on Saturday, 5th August, 2023.

Two students from the College of Engineering, Oyegunle Toluwanimi Samuel, and Olatunde Anointed David represented the University, and the title of their award winning Project is Design and Fabrication of a Dual based Bio-Printer”, which represents a substantial advancement in the field of bioprinting and has the potential to enable numerous new applications in tissue engineering, prosthetics, and orthotics.

The award winning students were accompanied to the Competition by two of their lecturers, Dr. O. O. Olusanya and Mrs. D. O. Daramola.

This feat is coming on the heels of the exploits recorded by the students of Food Science and Technology Programme that clinched the first position at the 3rd Edition of the Food Science and Technology Quiz Competition among Tertiary Institutions, organised by the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology, NIFST, Lagos Chapter, on 8th of June, 2023, in Lagos State.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran, RE;COREN, FNSE, while reacting to this good news, eulogized the cream of seasoned lecturers and engineers in the University for imparting adequate knowledge that enable the students to attain the laudable height. He specially appreciated and congratulated the Lecturers and Engineers that decorated the University with the laurels at the just concluded meeting of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, held in Abuja.

He was also full of enthusiasm, asserting that the University’s graduates are making positive impacts and becoming global leaders in their various fields of endeavor.
