New Bells University Students Association (BUSA) Executive Leaders Sworn in

A new set of Students Executive Leaders elected for the 2021/2022 Session was on Tuesday, 13 July, 2021 sworn in to run the affairs of the Bells University Students Association (BUSA). This was the culmination of weeks of intense campaigning and eventual elections that saw the emergence of this new set of student executives. A total of 9 executive members were elected with a representative spread from many colleges and departments.

While giving her opening remarks, the Dean, Students Affairs, Dr. Mrs. Esther Abam, congratulated the newly elected executives for their success in the elections. She also commended them for their willingness to serve saying, they should ‘walk the talk’ of their election promises. She thanked the University Management for the constant support to the cause of the students.

In his handover speech, the outgone BUSA President, Nsudoh David Nsudoh affirmed that his executive committee has made a success of their tenure by achieving a large percentage of their set goals.  Some of the achievements include the improvement of the channels of information dissemination to students, organization of series of interactive sessions for freshers, renovation of the tennis/basketball courts and seating at the sports arena; among several other student focused welfare programmes embarked upon.

The swearing-in was administered on the new executives by the University Legal Officer, Taye Adaraniwon, Esq., with the new President, Olayemi Feranmi AKINFE subsequently gave his acceptance speech. In his words, ‘this new administration will be centered on promoting the culture of equality, diversity and inclusion’. He promised that pending projects embarked on by the outgoing administration will be completed while consistently and relentlessly representing the interests of all students to the University Management. He thanked the University and entire student body for the opportunity to serve.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jeremiah O. Ojediran, RE (COREN) MNSE, charged the new executives to be the pacesetter and guiding light for the entire student populace. He affirmed that the role of student leadership casts the new executive body as the heart and conscience of the students which they represent. He further advised them to always be conscious of their roles as the go-between for the students and Management. He then congratulated them for their new role which he said is also a good training platform for higher callings in future.
