SWEP 2023 KICKS OFF WITH ORIENTATION OF ENGINEERING STUDENTS

The Students Work Experience Programme (SWEP) was kick-started on 11th August, 2023, with an orientation programme organised by the College of Engineering (COLENG). The event was held at the recently completed and commissioned Engineering Lecture Hall.

The SWEP is an 8 week-long programme that all Engineering students are required to participate in while studying to become Engineers at Bells Tech. The SWEP theme and motto for this year 2023 is titled “Sustainable Innovation”

In his address to the students, the Dean College of Engineering, Professor Sunday Ojo Fayomi, appreciated the Coordinators of the SWEP 2023 for a job well-done. He braced the aspiring Engineers up for the good, bad and the ugly during this period of their education, and also in life.

Prof Fayomi encouraged the students to be innovative, declaring that the journey to the world of innovation starts with an idea, and that the instrumentality of ideas brings sufficiency. He stated that the SWEP programme was put in place to inspire, create, build and let students know that ideas rule the world.

In closing, the Dean charged the students to prepare their minds, work with their hearts and be ready to take responsibility, during this SWEP programme.

The SWEP training period is organized every year to teach students of Engineering different skills such as the usage of basic Engineering tools; and teamwork, as Engineers will always work with multiple professionals on projects e.g. Carpenters, Painters etc. SWEP therefore, prepares the students for the professional world ahead of them.
