COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING SENDS FORTH DEAN, OTHER PROFESSORS

Faculty and Staff of the College of Engineering (COLENG), Bells University of Technology, Ota, led by the newly appointed Dean, Professor Ojo S. Fayomi, held a send forth programme in honour of the outgoing Acting Dean, Dr. Adeoye O. Ojo, as well as seven other Professors in the College.

The event which took place on Tuesday 31st of August, 2021 was held at the Prof. R.I Salawu Gazebo.

Very eminent Professors who have contributed immensely to the development of the College were honoured at the send forth ceremony. They include; Prof. Gabriel O. Oluwadare, Prof. Oluwole A. Agbede, Prof. David O. Aborisade, Prof. Titi A. Kuku, Prof. Raifu I. Salawu, Prof. Sambo A. Balogun, and Prof. Oludokun L. Olopade. It was indeed an eventful afternoon, as encomiums were poured on these very erudite scholars.

The Dean of the College in his welcome address thanked everyone present for taking out time to celebrate these giants and generals of the College. He appreciated the immediate past Dean and the Professors for laying the foundation of history and great legacies in the College. He specifically thanked his predecessor for impacting the College in a dynamic way which can never be forgotten.  Prof. Fayomi emphasised the need to institutionalise the culture of recognising and appreciating great minds who have contributed to building a solid foundation and setting an enviable standard for the College, paving way for others to build upon.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jeremiah O. Ojediran, COREN, MNSE, ably represented by the University Librarian, Dr. Felicia Yusuf appreciated the immediate past Dean as well as the eminent Professors for their immense contribution to the College of Engineering and by implication, the University as a whole. She noted that the College was on that day, marking its 12th year and the number 12 symbolises completeness.

Dr. Yusuf stressed the importance of the College in actualizing the University’s vision being the arrowhead of all the other colleges. She charged faculty members of the College to commit themselves to making substantial difference and impact in the University and society at large through technological and innovation driven ideas. By so doing she affirmed, the legacy of these erudite scholars being sent forth would be upheld and preserved.

The highpoint of the ceremony saw faculty members come out in their numbers to shower encomiums on these erudite scholars. They were well appreciated for their good works and diligence in the College up until their time of retirement.

The knowledge these giants in the academia have imparted and the mentorship provided to students and their junior colleagues would forever be imprinted in the sands of time!
