REBRANDING THE BELLSTECH TRADEMARK

Bells University of Technology held its first ever Orientation Programme titled ‘Rebranding the University Towards Attaining World-Class Status’. The event took place at the Conference Hall of the university on the 6th of October, 2021.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Jeremiah O. Ojediran welcomed the attendees to the programme. He stated that the reason for the rebranding was to strengthen some weak links. According to him,  “somewhere along the line, some links in the chain are weak and have refused to perform their roles.”

He advised participants to be vigilant and guide against inexcusable mistakes that could embarrass the University.

The first speaker, Dr Aminat Olabisi Adelekan, in her presentation titled ‘Examination and Result Processing’ stated the importance of various roles of the Examination Coordinator, the Level Advisor, the Invigilator. She noted the procedure for result processing as follows : Examination officers will collate the result broadsheets and check for correctness before the Departmental Board of Examiners meeting; Head of Department will then present the results to the College Board of Examiners; Committee of Deans and Directors check for correctness and finally, the Senate approves the results.

The second guest speaker, Dr J.O.J Ezike, spoke on Students Portal Orientation for Course Advisors. He did thorough exposition on the university dashboard, the payment module, the registration module, the hostel module, the wallet module and the preference module.

He also touched on the procedures for keying in examination results.

The Third Guest speaker, Mr. Badmus, who represented the Bursar at the event spoke on payment procedures, noting that the University had not increased school fees in 10 years, he also made note of the deadlines and implications of not paying or late payment, he also shed light on the roles of stakeholders in driving payment.

In the breakout session, attendees were divided into 4 groups, where they had insightful discussions on the topics they had been taught in the prior session. Issues were raised and solutions were also proffered by different members of the group. Each group had a representative who made presentations with valid conclusions.  

In his closing address, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Jeremiah O. Ojediran remarked on the thoughtful and insightful nature of the seminar, noting all participants pointed out their observations and solutions that would guide in the rebranding of the University, he thanked everyone for their participation and promised that the Management would work on every issue raised.
